Pledge campaign launched for second album!

Last time round, we had great success with the Pledge campaign, and now it’s time to do it again!

However, unlike You Get So Alone At Times That It Just Makes Sense – where the album was fully recorded before the campaign began – this time we’re still in the thick of it.

We need your help to pay for studio time, session musicians, mastering, and production of the physical product. There was a huge demand for vinyl last time, and that’s something we’d love to bring to you. However, that comes at a huge cost, hence the huge leap in campaign target!

To give you an idea of what to expect, I’m not going to bang on about how well received the last record was, other than to say I was blown away and extremely grateful for the response (if in doubt, you can read all the reviews for the last album here).

If you’ve seen me play with the Penny Dreadfuls – or indeed by myself – you will have heard some of the new songs already (Waiting For My Day to Come, No One Did It Like Us, Amanda Jane…), there will also be a couple of my Whybirds songs that never made it to record on this album too (These Lonesome Blues, Don’t Put Me Out).

This album – tentatively titled Always Be True – is really about where I am now, as opposed to a compendium of some of the saddest songs I’ve written like the last one! I’m not saying it won’t have some sad songs on it of course (that’s part of what I do), but in general it’ll be a bit more upbeat!

I’d really like to reward the kind people who Pledge on this campaign with some bonus stuff, so what I’ll also promise is this: Whatever exclusives you go for, you’ll also get a free EP of fully recorded, properly mastered bonus material outside of the album tracks. Strictly for Pledgers only. I promise to never release that material for free anywhere else.

Also, all Pledgers will get to hear some of the acoustic guide tracks for the album within a week of making their Pledge (I’ll release them with my weekly updates).

Of course, this project cannot go ahead without your support. If I don’t make my target, I don’t make the album (and you won’t be billed either!). Making records is an expensive thing, and someone at my level doesn’t recoup much of the money afterwards, so that’s why I deeply appreciate everyone who decides to part with their hard-earned cash.

There’s also the added incentive that 10% of any money I make after I hit my target will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

I really hope you can join me on this journey. Thanks for everything.

Luke
